General
Information The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbian: Federativna Republika Jugoslavija), the successor state to the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, was formally proclaimed on April 27, 1992. The new state consists of the republics of Montenegro (Crna Gora) and Serbia (Srbija). Yugoslavia foccupies an area of 102,172 square kilometers. It is bounded to the north by Hungary, to the northeast by Romania, to the southeast by Bulgaria, to the south by Macedonia and Albania, to the southwest by the Adriatic Sea and a small strip of Adriatic coast belonging to Croatia, to the west by Bosnia and Hercegovina, and to the northwest by Croatia.
